Thursday, September 15, 2011: We learned about cell division and had a discussion about the ethics of DNA Screening. No homework.
Wednesday, September 14, 2011: We talked about how the inside of the cell works: how they get energy, and what the chromosomes, DNA and genes in the nucleus do. We talked extensively about chemical changes to the DNA (mutations) and how they can be detrimental (tumours) or beneficial (providing chemicals to a body that needs it; helping with research; removing a gene that causes disease, etc). We touched on DNA Screening and the ethics behind it.
Homework: Complete questions 1-6 under "Questions" on Page 21 in the textbook. Also remember, your cell model is due tomorrow.

No homework assigned, but bring in supplies for the craft-day on Monday (creating models of plant and animal cells)
